2017 ADDY AWARDS - ROCHESTER NY
The Addys is an annual advertising awards show in Rochester NY. Last year the amazing team at Truth Collective took home best in show and as the tradition goes they were given the task to create next year’s theme and work with the show committee to plan and execute the next year’s event. Before I arrived at Truth they had already chosen a theme, Be Legendary. An homage to all types of rock music and the culture that goes with it.
INTRO VIDEO
During my time at Truth I was able to help art direct this opening video for the show. Truth Collective worked together with the team at Optic Sky Productions to make this killer video featuring local industry professionals getting ready for the big show that only comes around once a year. You can even catch yours truly at the pool table.
ADDY SHOWBOOK
Every year a custom book gets printed with all the winner’s work and contributors. Our approach was to make the book look like a heavy metal battle jacket adorned with pins and patches. The pins and patches are advertising parodies of legendary rock groups.
INSIDE COVER
Rich Brainerd Studios was generous enough to help us execute our concept for the inside cover of the show-book. The idea was to make it look like the floor of a bohemian house, strewn with records, beer, denim and cassettes. To add that extra layer, we parodied the covers of famous records to match our theme and poke fun at the show.
THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY
Every great rock show needs lights, graphics, tees and merch of course.
THE KEYNOTE
Using a grungy texture and some rugged typography I created a versatile template to display the winning work of the night.
ROCK TEES
Every great rock experience deserves an equally great concert tee to accompany it. Truth Collective made five in total, here are my two contributions.
CUSTOM BAND LOGOS
As a final custom element Truth Collective created parody band logos for all the winning agencies, the sampling here are some of the ones I created.
A HUGE THANK YOU
I can’t thank Truth Collective enough for giving me a chance to show what I’ve got. They really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and a part of the team. I learned so much and made some great friends, I can’t wait to continue working with them in the future.
